SBIRT +: Implementing a Collaborative Response to IPV, Substance Use and Maternal Health Coercion


Event Overview: Join this two-part interactive learning series led by expert Kelly Lemon, MSN, CNM, WHNP, FACNM, Certified Nurse Midwife and Instructor, WVU School of Medicine, to explore how the SBIRT+ screening tool can improve health outcomes for patients. In session one, participants will learn about SBIRT+ and how to transition to screening as conversation through case examples. In session two, participants will dive deeper into implementation and will discuss what the model looks like in practice. This session is appropriate for clinical providers and non-clinical staff in Community Health Center settings. 

Objectives and Goals: 

  • Summarize the components of SBIRT+ 

  • Explain the importance of addressing the intersection of IPV, mental health concerns, and substance abuse

  • Determine the full scope of a client's needs using enhanced screening techniques

  • Review opportunities for enhancing screening through conversations

  • Evaluate readiness to implement SBIRT+

  • Apply the SBIRT+ model to address a client's needs at your site

Event Date and Time: This will be a two part webinar series taking place on June 2nd and June 16th from 10 AM - 11 AM.

Target Audience: Providers, CMOs

Cost: This training is being offered at NO COST to CHC staff through collaboration with the WV Perinatal Partnership and WEAVE WV.

This training is only open to CHC staff!
