Join the West Virginia Primary Care Association (WVPCA) as we have partnered with Jennifer Calohan, and the team at CURIS Consulting, to offer our members a highly interactive learning collaborative focused on using LEAN/Six Sigma principles and practices to improve health outcomes.  The collaborative will be a combination of onsite training workshops, supported peer-to-peer networking, remote trainings, webinars, and individualized coacvirtual trhing sessions. Improving diabetes outcomes will be used as the case study for the learning collaborative; however, the principles learned can be applied to improve processes and outcomes throughout your health center.

This 10 month collaborative is focused on leveraging LEAN/Six Sigma principles and practices and applying them to improve outcomes in Community Health Centers. The program will provide multi-modal training on the foundational elements, concepts, and principles of LEAN/Six Sigma as it relates to healthcare with focus on real world scenarios specifically applicable to the Community Health Center workplace(s). Participants will receive a certificate of completion. The program will provide participants with core components of LEAN/Six Sigma to assist with preparation for yellow and/or green belt professional certification.

During the 10-month collaborative timeframe, teams will receive training from subject matter experts, collaborate with one another in peer-to-peer learning activities, and develop strategies to enhance the programs and services available to the patients/communities they serve. Participants will develop new strategies and strengthen existing organizational infrastructure, leadership structure, quality management programs, and front-line care delivery models while being supported by an expert faculty/ facilitator.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have had to make a scheduling change. The first face-to-face meeting will now be held virtually. The virtual sessions will be 2 hours in length and spread out over the course of the week. This change will allow the training to continue and keep everyone safe.

Technical Requirements: Since we will be using a virtual platform instead of face to face training for the July meetings, there are a few technical requirements we want you to be aware of.

  • Webcams: Please make sure you have a functioning webcam. We want the training to be as interactive as possible and the ability for the presenter to see you is very important.
  • Meeting space: The learning collaborative is meant for team interaction. Please utilize a meeting space in your health center where you can socially distance while having access to the internet, monitor and a webcam.
Each participating team/member will receive a comprehensive compilation of resources and materials to support ongoing improvements at their Community Health Center. Support will be provided by the WVPCA Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN) as sponsors of this work and by the CURIS team. Learning Sessions will be provided in a combination of onsite/in-person workshops, remote webinar sessions, and virtual 1:1 office hours for each participating health center.

Upon completion of the webinars and onsite sessions, participants will receive a certificate of completion. The program will provide participants with core components of LEAN/Six Sigma to assist with preparation for yellow and/or green belt professional certification.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This event is intended for CEO, COO, CMO, Medical Directors, Quality & Operations team members. This learning collaborative is not open to non-CHC staff.
