Event Overview: Please join Dr. Donn Posner, PhD and Dr. Micheal L. Perlis, PhD for a two-day training on learning and applying the basics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. CBT-I is now recommended as the first line of treatment for chronic insomnia. CBT-I is a short-term intervention where up to 80% of subjects exhibit a significant treatment response and nearly 40% recover good sleep (remit). CBT-I has also been shown to double response and remission rates to antidepressant therapy in depressed patients and to have similarly good clinical effects in patients with anxiety and to improve the quality of life and activity levels in patients with chronic pain. Taken together, these aspects of CBT-I treatment efficacy suggest that CBT-I should be in the toolbox of every provider.

Objectives: Learn to assess/diagnose insomnia and co-morbid sleep disorders as well as receive training to begin providing CBT-I treatment to your patients.

Medical Providers: This training will help you with diagnosing insomnia, give you actionable tools for providing psychoeducation, sleep tips, and interventions to your patients, and help you make an informed decision for when to refer your patients to specialty behavioral health services targeting sleep.

Behavioral Health Providers: This training will provide you with a foundation to begin assessing/diagnosing insomnia and providing CBT-I treatment to your patients.
