HealthCare.gov is a health insurance exchange website operated under the federal government, designed to serve the residents of the thirty-six U.S. states that opted not to create their own state exchanges. The insurance exchange offers private health insurance plans to US residents, like you.

In an effort to help better educate insurance consumers of the State of West Virginia, we are making this tool available to you. In order to use this tool, navigate through the tabs above. Each tab will cover a different aspect of insurance. Some tabs will contain links to websites while others will have documents you can review. Always remember that if you have specific questions about your policy call your insurance producer (agent). Also, our office is always here to help.
 
Legal Aid (Free Tax Help) 
You’re in luck! There’s a thing called the “Volunteer Income Tax Assistance” program, or VITA for short. VITA helps people do their taxes, and get their refund, free of charge. There are over 100 VITA sites in West Virginia, across all 55 counties. There is bound to be one close to home.

SHIP stands for State Health Insurance Assistance Program and its goal is to provide reliable and up-to-date information to Medicare beneficiaries and their families. The purpose of this site is to offer information about Medicare to those individuals and families who are seeking answers. Additionally, it serves as an interactive resource for SHIP and SMP counselors from around the state to utilize for updates and training. We are very proud of our nationally recognized SHIP services that are offered in West Virginia.
