Comprehensive Workforce Planning: Where to Begin

Please join the West Virginia Primary Care Association (WVPCA) and Suzanne Speer, Senior Director of Workforce Development for the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) as we host a virtual Comprehensive Workforce Planning training. ACU is a uniquely transdisciplinary membership network uniting clinicians, advocates, and organizations in the shared mission to improve health equity for the underserved. Moreover, the ACU has a National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP) called the STAR2 Center, which focuses on supporting health centers with training and technical assistance regarding the recruitment and retention of their clinical workforce.

The following is an overview of what will be covered:

  • An introduction to ACU and STAR² Center and available tools/resources to include, but not limited to, Retention and Recruitment Plan Template, available benchmark data, and sample action plans.
  • Defining a comprehensive workforce plan.
  • Where to start with the development of your comprehensive workforce plan.
  • What elements should be included in your comprehensive workforce plan.

At the conclusion of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to access ACU and STAR² Center available tools/resources.
  • Understand what elements should be included in your comprehensive workforce plan.
  • Begin to develop their own comprehensive workforce plan.

TARGET AUDIENCE:   Anyone in your CHC involved in workforce, i.e. CEO, COO, CMO, Human Resources, Workforce specialist, etc.

In addition to the webinar training, the WVPCA will host subsequent one-hour long virtual office hour sessions from August to September. These office hours will offer an open-forum for question and answers regarding workforce topics with peers as well as with guest speakers.

Guest Speaker: Angela Benjegerdes, Iowa PCA
Event Overview: Angela will be sharing a comprehensive workforce plan template the Iowa PCA created. Time will be allotted for Q/A dedicated for peer-to-peer learning.

September 2, 2021 | 1:00 - 2:00 ET
Guest Speaker: Ashley Colwell, Illinois PCA
Event Overview: Ashley will be sharing an Onboarding Checklist and Recruitment Plan Framework the Illinois PCA created. Time will be allotted for Q/A dedicated for peer-to-peer learning.

Guest Speaker: Amanda Schiessl, Community Health Center, Inc.
Event Overview: Amanda will be discussing WV Health Center RTAT results. Time will be allotted for Q/A dedicated for peer-to-peer learning.

September 30, 2021 | 1:00 - 2:00 ET
Guest Speaker: Amanda Schiessl, Community Health Center, Inc.
Event Overview: Amanda will be discussing next steps including the roll out of health center reports and how they can be used to inform strategic decisions. Time will be allotted for Q/A dedicated for peer-to-peer learning.
