WVPCA Welcomes Director of Health Center Operations

    The WVPCA is very pleased to announce that Shannon Parker, MBA will join the staff in July as the   Director of Health Center Operations.  In this capacity, Shannon will continue the PCMH/practice transformation and meaningful use technical support to all health centers.   Shannon has ten years' experience at Monroe Health Center in Union, West Virginia.  She began her career at the health center in 2004, serving as the Human Resources Director and Information Specialist.  She then served as the Chief Operating Officer for sixteen months before assuming the role as CEO in December 2007.  Her experience working in a health center will provide our staff with a greater understanding of the complexity and challenges in a health center and this knowledge will help to guide our training and technical assistance efforts in many areas.

WVPCA Welcomes New Staff

Michael Jones, MS, RN has joined the WVPCA staff as a Health Informatics Specialist.  Michael has a broad background in healthcare working in counseling, nursing and health informatics.  He began his career assisting patients with severe mental disabilities in developing and maintaining treatment plans and assisted patients recovering from brain injuries.  After completing nursing school, Michael worked as a psychiatric nurse before spending several years as a hospice nurse.  Michael returned to school and received a Masters in Health Informatics.  While working on his masters, Michael served as a full time graduate research assistant to the Director of Health Informatics at Marshall University and completed an internship at the West Virginia Health Care Authority analyzing statewide data sets.
