ARRA funded project takes off in West Virginia

June 21st, 2010 saw the initial opening of a new community health center location for the FamilyCare organization in Eleanor, WV.  CEO Martha Carter tells us that the funds for this new Putnam county location can be attributed to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's (ARRA) Capitol Improvement Project funds, along with a WV Rural Health Systems grant, a loan from the Center for Rural Health Development and an appropriation by Shelly Moore Capito.

The new site is located on Roosevelt Boulevard in Eleanor and being a part of the FamilyCare HealthCenter organization they will provide complete health care services to adults, children and seniors, with special focus in women's health and prenatal care; as well as access to their 340b discount pharmacy.  Because they are a federally qualified health center FamilyCare HealthCenter in Eleanor offers a sliding-fee scale based on income, as well as accepts most insurance plans including Medicaid, Medicare, PEIA, CHIP and Tricare.

While FamilyCare Eleanor officially opened its doors on June 21, a grand opening is still being planned.  To contact FamilyCare HealthCenter in Eleanor, call (304) 586-0001.  For more information about the FamilyCare organization, please contact Martha Carter, CEO by calling (304) 757-6999 or visit www.familycarewv.org.
