  • April 10, 2008 - Happy Birthday to Steve Shattls, CEO of Valley Health Systems based in Huntington, WV. Steve has been an Association member for 20 years and counting! Congratulations and many thanks!
  • April 9, 2008 - Happy Birthday to Joe Tuttle, Executive Director of Clay-Battelle Community Health Services Association in Blacksville and of Mountaineer Community Health Center in Paw Paw, WV.  Joe has been a part of the community health care system in this state for 30+ years!  Congratulations and many thanks.
  • Welcome to Louise Reese, FACHE who joins the WVPCA as its new Chief Executive Officer in February, 2008!
  • The WVPCA's membership recently spent the day (February 11, 2008) at the State's Capitol with displays from each member center and our School-Based Health Assembly.  Below are a few of the pictures taken that day. Thank you to everyone who participated!

  • Congratulations to Martha Carter, RN, BA, CNM - CEO of FamilyCare on receiving the 2007 Nursing Excellence Award for Nurse Leader.  The award was presented on October 18, 2007 at the "100 Years of Nursing Gala Celebration" held at the WV Cultural Center in Charleston, WV.  Also receiving Nursing Excellence Awards were Linda Gillet, MSN, RN - Clinical Director of Women's Services at Shenandoah Valley Medical System and Pamela Maddox, RN, APRN, BC of the Women's Health Center (both for Advanced Practice).
  • Congratulations to Tug River Health Association for its mention in The Charleston Gazette's HealthWatch feature, "7 tons and Counting".  See the story here.
  • Belington Community Medical Services Association held a "Breast Cancer Awareness" night on October 6, 2006.  The group was treated to a visit from the Honorable Mary Poling of the WV House of Delegates, along with Fair Queens Miss Belington and Miss Barbour County.  The following week, on October 13th, Belington held a Medicare Part D training session for their area counselors.See pictures below.

  • October 24, 2006 - Congratulations to Wirt County Health Services Association on the grand opening of the River Valley Health and Wellness Center in Ravenswood, WV! The grand opening was held on Tuesday, October 24th and was a huge success.  See below for pictures!

  • October 2006 - Congratulations to Hygeia Facilities Foundation, Inc. and Raleigh-Boone Medical Center on 50 YEARS of providing health care service to their community.
  • October 2006 - Bluestone Health Center will be having its annual Open House on Saturday, October 21, 2006 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  They are offering free health screenings, as well as other prizes and giveaways.  The Bluestone Open House will also feature many vendors, free refreshments and music for your enjoyment.  The event also features appearances by Congressman Nick Joe Rahall and Senator H. Truman Chafin.  For more information, contact Bluestone Health Association at (304) 431-5499.
  • September 2006 - Congratulations to Lincoln Primary Care Center for a successful turnout for the 2nd annual "Heat in the Hills" Chili Cook Off and Fair held in Hamlin, West Virginia on September 30, 2006.  It looked like the center had an excellent crowd and lots of community participation.  Great Job!
  • National Health Center Week was a big success throughout the nation.  NACHC reported over 500 NHCW events held nationwide, including health fairs, conferences and site tours. Over 75 of these national events involved members of Congress and nearly 80 national events involved state or local officials. 
  • Here in West Virginia, Governor Joe Manchin III issued a proclamation declaring August 6-12, 2006 "Community Health Center Week."  Several representatives from our state's community health centers were in attendance.  Check out the pictures below:
